SAFE Taskforces are being funded by the Department for Education (DfE) in ten Local Authority areas to support children and young people and enable them to attend school regularly so they can fulfil their potential by inspiring them to exceed their expectations.
The SAFE Taskforce programme aims to fund and support the set-up and operation of a partnership of local schools that will work with the local authority (LA), police, children’s social care, Violence Reduction Units (VRUs) and voluntary sector organisations. As a targeted, schools-led programme, it aims to direct evidence-based interventions (social skills training, mentoring) at young people in most need. The North West have 3 Education Inclusion mentors, (EIMs) located in our area. Two are based in two Secondary Schools and one with the AIP.
